Bull City Legacy welcomes new coaching staff

Durham, N.C. -- The Bull City Legacy, of the Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL), announced the resignation of head coach Fred Whitaker; effective immediately.   Whitaker coached Bull City last season, as well as the first 5 games of this season. "We thank Coach Fred and his staff for all their commitment and sacrifices, managing the team over the last 2 years, and we welcome Coach Marvin "Rat" Reed and his staff to build on our successes moving forward," says Legacy GM Umar T. Muhammad. The Legacy are off to a 3-2 start this season in the Tobacco Road Basketball League (TRBL). 

The Legacy is proud to announce the hiring of Marvin "Rat" Reed as their new head coach. Reed, a Durham native, brings a wealth of experience both as a player and coach to Bull City. Reed is a Hillside High School and North Carolina Central University Alum; During Reeds' playing days he helped NCCU win the 1989 Division II national title. Reed previously coached at Mount Zion High School (Durham, N.C.), and is currently the head man at Faith Assembly in Durham.  Reed brings his passion for the city of Durham to the coaching box.  

"I'm happy to bring my basketball experience and expertise to the Bull City Legacy," said Reed.  The Legacy play their home games at Walltown Recreational Center in Durham. "We want to have the place packed.  Make opponents fear coming in here to play."  

Coach Reed will be assisted by another Durham native, Andre McCollum.  McCollum is also a graduate of Hillside High School (Durham N.C.), before playing collegiately at Cal State Bakersfield, and in various professional leagues.  "Andre will be a key component in the teams success moving forward," says Reed.

The BULL CITY LEGACY is a high-quality, high-profile, high-flying professional basketball organization comprised of former NCAA, European and professional players coupled with management, promotional and sports professionals working together to deliver a first-class entertainment value and venue for our fans in the Durham area. 

Coach Reed and the Bull City Legacy return to action Feb. 7th when they play host to Triangle Run N' GUN. Game time is set for 5pm.
